Following another successful year this wholesale distribution business is in a strong financial position to take advantage of growth opportunities in their sector. By expanding their products and services whilst maintaining excellent customer service the management team are confident they will see a further increase in revenue and gross profit margins.
Part of the strategic plan involves strengthening the finance department with the appointment of a Management Accountant who will supervise a small, capable team and report into the Financial Controller. Longer term it is envisaged that the successful candidate will eventually take over running the finance function so this opportunity has excellent development prospects. My client is looking for someone with a good grounding in accounts from an SME, keen to learn and a positive attitude. The business is not without its challenges, many of the systems and processes need modernising, there will also be a variety of project work available providing financial information to support the sales & marketing, warehouse & distribution functions. The main responsibilities will be:
• Supporting the FC with management of the finance team• Producing the monthly management accounts• Month end duties• Preparing MI reports on KPI’s• Cost and margin analysis• Stock reporting and valuation• Reporting on variance to budget / sales forecast• VAT returns, balance sheet recs• Accruals & prepayments, journals etc.
