The Role:
Our London office is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to form a key part of a growing civil engineering team. You will work with the Civils Lead to support and grow the team, working closely with the other office disciplines of structural, civil, infrastructure and bridge engineering as well as our geotechnical consultancy.
As such, the nature and type of work will be varied. You will lead and contribute to projects in various sectors (infrastructure, industrial, property) at different stages (concept design, detailed design and construction). Whilst the majority of our work is UK-based, we are an international practice and often work in other geographies. Knowledge and experience of delivering work in a more global context would be welcome.
We are looking for an individual with a strong base of technical skills coupled with excellent organisational and communication skills, gained in either a multi-disciplinary or engineering consultancy environment, who now wants to enhance and diversify these skills within a growing organisation that will support their future development.
The role will include a varied mix of responsibilities, including:
1. Manage a design team and provide guidance and mentoring to junior members;
2. Deliver engineering services/projects to a range of sectors, including water, utilities, transport, and industrial;
3. Produce civil engineering designs in co-ordination with other disciplines’ teams;
4. Work collaboratively with other consultants and colleagues;
5. Undertake and review design calculations and specifications;
6. Coordination of the production of construction drawings;
7. Preparation of technical reports at various project stages, including feasibility, concept and detailed design;
8. Liaising with clients and developing relationships;
9. Extensive experience in civil engineering projects’ technical delivery (earthworks, roads, drainage, flooding);
10. Experience working on the design of infrastructure projects;
11. Experience in obtaining all necessary approvals from regulatory bodies;
12. Experience in multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy projects;
13. Demonstrable technical review/assurance skills;
14. Working knowledge of 2D & 3D design software (AutoCAD, Civil3D);
15. Working knowledge of drainage design software (MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage);
16. Working knowledge of design standards and codes of practice, such as Design and Construction Guidance for foul and surface water sewers, SuDS Manual (C753), the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, and Manual for Streets, etc.;
17. Working knowledge of health and safety requirements and CDM 2015;
18. Excellent English verbal and written communication skills;
19. Experience in leading, developing and growing an engineering team;
20. Experience in project management;
21. Working knowledge of Highways Authority Sections 38 and 278 and Water Authority Sections 104 and 185 agreements;
22. Experience in site supervision;
23. Experience in the application of BIM;
24. Engaging and coordinating with project stakeholders such as planning authorities, the Environment Agency and DNOs.

You will be a key member of the BG&E Engineering team, where you'll strengthen our skills and capabilities and provide support to our engineering and drafting teams.
As a successful applicant, you’ll have:
* At least 8 years of relevant experience, ideally within an engineering consultancy or the construction industry;
* Excellent time management and the ability to prioritise execution of work;
* High level of attention to detail;
* Be qualified to MEng level or above;
* Be a Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent level;
