Senior Residential Childcare Officer Location: Cardiff Job Type: Full-time Hours per Week: 37 Salary: £31,067 - £35,235 We are seeking a dedicated Senior Residential Childcare Officer to join our team in Cardiff. This role involves direct care and support for young people aged 11–17 within a children's home setting, ensuring their safety, welfare, and development in line with legislative and departmental guidelines. Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Provide care and support under the guidance of the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, ensuring the home adheres to its Statement of Purpose. Take responsibility for the home's operation in the absence of senior staff, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and policies. Act as a key worker for specific children, implementing, monitoring, and recording their care plans. Participate in household duties, including cleaning, maintenance, and meal preparation. Ensure accurate record-keeping and report generation, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with departmental policies. Support the educational and health needs of the children, including attending school meetings and promoting intellectual development. Manage and support other staff members, contributing to their training and professional development. Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience working with young people with diverse needs in a residential childcare setting. Familiarity with relevant legislation, including the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014 and the Registration and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016. Ability to lead and manage in the absence of senior staff, ensuring the smooth running of the home. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with team members, young people, and external agencies. Competence in IT and management databases.
