Job Title: 1:1 SEN Support Assistant
Location: Bournemouth
Hourly Rate: £12.82 per hour
Start date: After October Half-Term 2024
Working Hours: Full-Time, 8:30 am – 3:00pm, Monday to Friday, term-time only
Are you an experienced teaching assistant with a background in supporting children with Special Educational Needs?
GSL Education is currently working closely with a local mainstream primary school in Bournemouth to support their recruitment of a 1:1 SEN Support Assistant who can provide additional support for a Key Stage 1 pupil with complex behavioural needs, including non-verbal communication. We are looking for a nurturing, adaptable, and highly motivated individual who has a passion for tailoring strategies and provisions based on the needs of the child and their EHCP plan.
For this role, the ideal candidate will be able to develop and implement effective methods of reengagement and behaviour management, as well as the ability to adapt and use initiative. Prior experience working in a school or in a setting supporting children/young people with additional needs would be desirable. This role will also incorporate elements of personal care; therefore, the ideal candidate will have prior experience of or be willing to support with personal care duties for the pupil.
This Role Includes:
1. Supporting the teaching and learning of pupils with SEN or SEMH needs.
2. Supporting the pupil both in and out of the classroom, including emotional regulation activities and gross motor skill development tasks.
3. Working closely with pupils that display challenging behaviours and emotional difficulties.
4. Working collaboratively with other members of staff to ensure that the needs of the pupils are effectively and consistently met.
