Company - 3 Roles - Road Customs & Deep-Sea Import & Export Operators
My client is one of the largest independently owned worldwide freight forwarders in the UK. It was established almost 40 years and operates from 9 locations, including the head office in Bradford and two warehouses. Expert teams offer sea, air, and road freight, UK warehousing and distribution, and special projects alongside a dedicated customs team. Offices in Birmingham, Bradford, Derby, Halifax, Leeds, Manchester, and Newcastle.
They are looking to add to their ever-growing ranks Deep Sea Import & Export and Road Freight Operators who can come in and hit the ground running and are well versed in all aspects of customs entries & CDS is a MUST & Cargo wise is a nice to have.
Some of the things you'll be doing every day include:
1. Preparing customs entries on imports and exports ensuring a high level of accuracy and full compliance
2. Processing documents such as COO, EUR1 on ICERT
3. Ensuring a screening process takes place to review client documentation such as commercial invoices and packing lists
4. Processing refunds via HMRC
5. Guaranteeing the import/export of finished products and components, ensuring the process is cost-effective and efficient
6. Taking decisive action with the organisation of the flows of activity
7. Ensuring customs authorisation documentation is checked and correctly completed
8. Guarantee compliance with international transport regulations and customs procedures
9. Co-ordinate international transport operations
10. Ensure the prioritisation of local customs administration
The role requires:
1. Previous experience of working with customs data and knowledge of customs legislation
2. At least 2 years' experience in a customs role
3. Experience of CDS essential, Descartes and FCL preferred
4. Sound understanding of Destin8/CNS
5. Good trade tariff knowledge
6. Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player
7. Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines
8. Eagerness to learn and progress, and the ability to grasp new systems and processes quickly
9. Excellent communication skills
10. Experienced user of Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word and Outlook
11. Committed, motivated, energetic, proactive, and fun with a positive can-do attitude
12. Ability to work well whilst under time constraints with a 'right first-time' approach
