The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals Trust (SaTH) is delighted to offer the role of rotational Specialist Physiotherapist to advert; the post is ideally suited to a candidate seeking opportunity to grow specialist clinical knowledge as well as leadership expertise. Our rotations are based at both The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to explore rotations within acute Surgery including post amputation, Respiratory including Paediatrics, Acute Medicine, Cardiology and Frailty at a specialist level.
SaTH is in the process of undertaking a massive period of investment in our services and facilitates across both sites as part of the Hospital Transformation Plan. Within these plans we are hopeful to see the expansion of our services which may allow for additional specialist areas added to the rotation wheel.
We are proud to offer therapy to patients across 7 days and working in collaboration with our MDT colleagues across the week enables us to deliver physiotherapy specific services when patients need us. As part of this position the successful applicant would be supported to join our weekend rotas which cover an acute Respiratory, Orthopaedics and general therapeutic progression patient list.
Main duties of the job
Successful candidates will provide Physiotherapy to patients within an acute setting, maximising independence to prevent deconditioning.
* To assess, diagnose/interpret and manage own specialist caseload of complex patients as an autonomous practitioner in accordance with Professional Code of Conduct and Health and Care Professions Council Regulations.
* Engage in own learning to develop self and service.
* Participate or lead on projects to develop services.
* Provide learning opportunities for others including band 5's, assistant practitioners and students as well as celebrating learning and achievements with the wider therapy and MDT teams.
* Participation in our respiratory physiotherapy on-call rota.
* The post holder will work in close co-operation with colleagues within all Care Groups to deliver a cohesive service that is user led ensuring a consistently high standard of patient care, optimal patient flow and safe timely intervention.
* To work closely with team leads, clinical leads and senior therapists to ensure a robust structure of training, supervision and appraisal is delivered to all members within the team.
* To act as a source of Specialist advice and support within the Therapy Centre and across the Trust and the wider health care system.

Qualifications
* Degree or qualification equivalent in Physiotherapy
* HCPC registration
Knowledge
* Previous experience working in a broad range of physiotherapy specialisms at junior or band 5 level
* Undertaken relevant Continuation Professional Development
* Sound understanding of service improvement principles and benefits of audit
* Evidence of Leadership training
* Experience with reflective tools to enhance improvement
Experience
* Previous experience assessing and treating acute respiratory patients in an NHS setting
* Evidence of relevant specialist level clinical reasoning
* Experience across a range of therapy settings and rotations within the NHS
* Evidence of collaborative or team working alongside an MDT
* Previous experience supervising or mentoring students, therapy support workers or band 5 physiotherapist's in an NHS setting
* Previous experience in audit or Research
* Previous experience of NHS appraisal
* Previous experience working as part of a Respiratory on-call rota within an NHS setting
