Social Worker – Children with Disabilities – Croydon
The essence of the role is to champion children’s welfare, guiding families in need towards brighter futures within the framework of the Children Act 1989. It’s about steering complex family cases towards stability and security, ensuring every action taken nurtures the child’s best interests.
Key Responsibilities:
* Caseload Management & Outcomes: Manage a diverse Children and Families caseload, including complex assessments, reviews, and interventions. Ensure that children and families are active partners in all processes, with a clear focus on achieving positive outcomes.
* Empowerment & Risk Management: Adopt a practice philosophy that empowers service users, leverages individual strengths, and develops strategies to understand and manage risk, ensuring that assessments and plans are reflective of this approach.
* Collaboration & Knowledge Utilization: Engage partner professionals and agencies in coordinated assessment and service delivery. Build a comprehensive knowledge base of all services and utilize them effectively through evidence-based matching.
* Quality Assurance & Professional Development: Contribute to and adapt practices based on the service’s quality assurance framework. Maintain current knowledge of research, legislation, and policy developments, applying them in practice to enhance service delivery to children and families.
As a qualified social worker, you must have a SWE (Social Work England)-recognized qualification, be knowledgeable about children’s social care policies, and understand the relevant legal framework. They should be skilled in forming lasting relationships with children and families and capable of holistic assessments and sound decision-making. Experience in a statutory setting, building effective relationships, and creating positive outcome-focused care plans is essential.
