Tax & Trust Adviser - Cardiff
Leading national law firm and Wales heavyweight, have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Tax & Trust Adviser to join their Cardiff office as part of their Trust Management and Advisory Team within the highly regarded Succession and Tax Practice Group.
This role is ideal for a candidate with extensive trust management experience, gained in a finance organisation or trust company. You will work closely with our Trust Manager, Tax Technicians, and wider Succession and Tax Team to support partners in advising both professional and lay trustees.
About the role:
You will play a key role in delivering trust advisory and administrative support, helping trustees and beneficiaries with:
* Trust distributions and tax planning (IHT, CGT)
* Managing trusts approaching the end of their term
* Winding up trusts and implementing planning strategies
* Overseeing charitable trusts alongside the Charities advisory team
* Monitoring key deadlines such as ten-year charges
* Trust accounting and inheritance tax returns
* Supporting routine trust administration alongside Trust Manager and paralegal
* Assisting with tax and trust projects, including Trust Registration Service (TRS) compliance
* Training and mentoring junior team members

To be considered:
* Relevant professional qualification (Solicitor, CILEX, STEP, ATT, or CTA)
* Minimum five years' experience in a private client or trust department
* Strong client-facing skills with excellent interpersonal communication
* Ability to prioritise, meet critical deadlines, and manage matters effectively
* Proactive and confident in problem-solving to achieve the best client outcomes
* IT proficient and self-motivated
