The role of Head of School will involve leading and guiding the team to ensure continuous improvement while maintaining a nurturing environment for both staff and students. Key Duties: Promote and model best practices around SEN and Autism, continuously building on the knowledge and expertise of the team. Provide an environment for teaching and learning that empowers both pupils and staff to achieve their fullest potential. Provide professional leadership to secure sustained improvements in the school's performance. Support the Head of School in maintaining and developing high standards of teaching and learning across all areas of the curriculum. Lead on understanding progression, accreditation pathways, provision mapping, and curriculum development. Lead on transitions and transition planning, whether that be transitioning into school, from Key Stage to Key Stage, or post-16 pathways and careers education. Demonstrate outstanding SEN and ASD classroom practice, acting as a role model to other staff. Lead by example with integrity, creativity, resilience, and clarity, drawing on your own expertise and that of those around you. Build strong, supportive relationships with colleagues, supporting, coaching, and mentoring other staff to develop their practice. Knowledge and Experience: Successful teaching of pupils with SEN and autism. Previous experience in a school leadership role or evidence of leading a department or area of responsibility. Experience of successful school improvement. Knowledge of School Education Review and school improvement strategies. Experience of Ofsted Inspections and awareness of Independent school standards (or willingness to learn). Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively while developing strong relationships with all stakeholders. An enthusiastic leader with the ability to motivate others. Able to identify problems/needs and construct solutions, working on your own initiative. Confidence to work well under pressure. A positive attitude to new challenges. Commitment to ongoing professional development. Excellent organisational skills.
