Job summary An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Splint Making Workshop Team. Although the post is full time we would consider part time. This post requires post qualification experience in an acute NHS hospital setting, of which experience in splint making is essential. You will be involved in all aspects of service provision to a diverse and interesting case mix. It is helpful to have a good knowledge of anatomy and physiology. There will be regular supervision and relevant training offered to assist in your development. The department has well established links with the wider Multi-disciplinary Team and you will be working as an integral part of the MDT, demonstrating excellent communication skills. Experience of working as part of a Therapy Team and / or Multi-disciplinary Team is required as well as evidence of Continuing Professional Development. Main duties of the job To provide a high standard Occupational Therapy service to the specialist area of the Splintmaking Workshop.The post holder will support the Trauma and Orthopaedic team providing a specialised and bespoke splinting service to both in and out-patients. To supervise Band 5 therapists, support staff and students working within the team.It is a fast-paced environment and so we will be looking for strong prioritisation, delegation and time management skills along with the ability to work flexibly. The hours are in line with the service needs and may include longer days working Monday to Friday. Weekend working may also be required in the future.The post may involve treating patients within their own home and so it would be desirable to be able to drive, have access to a car and to have business insurance cover.
