Morrison Water Services, part of the M Group Services Water Division, is the leading service provider in the water and wastewater infrastructure sectors in the UK. Our Water Division's One MEICA is a newly formed team made up from the integration of ID Systems, I&C Process Solutions, PMP Utilities, and Z-Tech Control Systems, creating a MEICA business offering with UK Coverage.
We are currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor (QS) in Change Management to join our dynamic One MEICA team in Glasgow. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative and growing business, contributing to the successful delivery of complex water infrastructure projects across the UK.
Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, as Senior QS (Change Management), you will be responsible for identifying, managing, and implementing changes and variations throughout live projects. This role involves taking a proactive approach to change management, focusing on resolving issues, negotiating agreements with clients, and ensuring financial performance is maintained.
Key responsibilities include:
* Assist and advise the project management team on commercial influences around Cost and Value reporting and changes required to ensure profit targets are met.
* Monitor live projects to identify change to ensure projects stay within budget.
* Implement robust processes to carry out change effectively with the creation of change schedules to track, record, and report any actions.
* Work alongside the operations team to ensure all changes are captured and processed in a timely manner.
* Take ownership of aged change and WIP (outstanding cash) working closely with key client stakeholders to negotiate fair agreements.
* Ensure all Morrison and Client processes are followed to minimise WIP and keep within the contract and business target.
* Attend Commercial Meetings both internally and with clients.
* Be an escalation point in the Early Warning and Compensation Event process.
* Support the Senior Commercial Manager with any Contract Changes including identifying key data points and providing assurance on the accuracy of the same.
* Support the Senior Commercial Manager with any adjudication matters.
* Support with commercial bidding matters for contracts when required.
* Implement new processes as set out by the Contract Director and Senior Commercial Manager and identify and provide feedback on existing process risks in terms of compliance and fitness for purpose.
* Support preparation of Contract Budget Forecasts, including the review and implementation of contract-specific Margin improvement plans to maximise profitability.
Additionally, a key element of the role is to forge a strong relationship with your client counterparts, to ensure the commercial functions are jointly managed with relevant challenge when required, whilst ensuring compliance with M Group policies, procedures, and principles.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with experience in cost management, contract administration, and change control.
* Effective communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Detailed knowledge, understanding, and previous experience of high-value NEC contracts; experience in a capital delivery space would be beneficial.
* Knowledge of work activities undertaken - Administrative and Operational.
* An understanding of all relevant statutory, regulatory, and company policies and guidelines.
* The ability and desire to identify opportunities for improvement and influence change.
* Knowledge of service delivery within the utilities sector.
* Excellent foresight and ability to plan ahead.
* Client focus – build sound relationships with other senior leaders in partnership.
* Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CIOB) – beneficial.
* Relevant Hons Degree level qualification or equivalent.

Salary: £26,970 to £42,025 depending on experience.
