Are you a creative and forward-thinking learning design professional with a passion for innovation? If so, we have a new vacancy as a Learning Design and Innovation Specialist at the Henry Ford Academy in Daventry. You will play a key role in shaping the future of learning at Ford. In this dynamic position, you will support the L&D Design team and the Learning Design and Innovation Manager in delivering high-quality, engaging learning solutions that drive real results.
You will thrive on exploring new technologies, streamlining processes, and working collaboratively with stakeholders to align learning strategies with Ford's business objectives.
Role Responsibilities
Technology and innovation
1. Recommend new technology directions that would benefit our learning solutions.
2. Investigate ways of maximising learner experience by serving up learning that matches their knowledge and skills gaps. (Adaptive, individual and timely)
UX and Design
1. Follow guidelines of brand identity while incorporating fresh, engaging visual designs for enhancing learner experience.
2. Work with the Learning Design and Innovation Manager and the Head of L&D to devise a plan for streamlining content, so that we build once and deploy many times.
3. Work with the Learning Design and Innovation Manager to ensure that learning is scoped with ROI and measurable performance improvements in mind.
4. Undertake instructional design projects as Lead Designer.
5. Lead on the more complex designs, coordinating resources and skills within the team.
LMS
1. Develop and maintain awareness of functionality of the LMS and the roadmap, and work with the Learning Design and Innovation Manager to influence the global roadmap and introduce to the Design team.
Team support and Quality
1. Advise Design team on how to avoid information overload in learning and ensure our solutions meet business and strategic learning needs.
2. Work with the Learning Design and Innovation Manager to ensure Design team have the right skills and tools.
3. Undertake reviews of training delivery to identify improvements.
4. With the Learning Design and Innovation Manager, assess ways to develop Instructional Designers to be agile to design across tech and non-tech curricula.
5. Work collaboratively with senior trainers and L&D Project Manager to maintain awareness of priorities.
6. Work with the Learning Design and Innovation Manager and L&D Project Manager to support Design team to maintain efficiencies in ways of working (e.g. improving design task estimating).
Stakeholders
1. Develop relationships with key Ford stakeholders, to gain and maintain a good working understanding of their business imperatives (Model e, Ford Pro, CX).
2. Dealer visits undertaken on an agreed (regular) basis.
Person Requirements
We are looking for someone with:
1. Previous Mid-Level experience in learning design & development, including the full life cycle of instructional design, from conducting a learning needs analysis to evaluating the developed solution.
2. A strong level of technical and creative design knowledge.
3. A strong awareness of emerging technologies and their application in learning solutions.
4. Detailed knowledge of relevant training theories, methodologies and techniques.
5. Highly literate with strong experience of writing for business.
6. Excellent customer relationship management skills.
7. Strong analytical skills and the ability to quickly assimilate information.
8. Strong collaborative mindset.
9. Demonstrable skills in coaching, influencing, negotiation and facilitation.
10. Highly organised, high attention to detail and strong focus on quality control.
11. A high-spec Windows laptop and software licences are provided.
12. The post holder will need to hold a clean UK driving licence.
Salary & Benefits – Up to £48,000 dependant on experience, 25 days annual leave, Calex Employee Benefits Packages (Inc Private GP and Healthcare Services, High Street Discounts, Discounted Gym Memberships and on Demand 24 Hour Wellbeing Service (Counselling and Advice).
Place of Work – This role is hybrid between home and Henry Ford Academy in Daventry (minimum of 2 days in office, per week), and will require occasional travel to Ford offices in Essex. There may also be an occasional requirement for overseas travel to Europe to attend Train the Trainer sessions, so flexibility is required.
Pre-employment Checks –Calex will undertake the relevant/standard employment checks with any successful candidate. This includes contacting all nominated references, as well as checking candidate ID, driving licence (if appropriate) and right to work in the UK. Some roles may also be subject to further pre-employment checks (confirmation will be provided through the recruitment process). This nature if this role may necessitate that we undertake a DBS check. The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of the right to work in the UK.
