Lead Software Engineer
Hybrid – Newcastle
A well-established Tech Consultancy based in Newcastle is on the lookout for a skilled Lead Software Engineer (ideally with experience using Java and Angular) to join their Agile squad. They’re offering the opportunity to work with a modern tech stack, building scalable greenfield solutions in a fun and flexible work environment.
They have a busy pipeline of projects and strong relationships with clients across multiple sectors (Fintech, Renewables, Oil & Gas, Public, and many more). It’s a unique environment where Engineers can choose projects and technologies, as highlighted by the long tenure of many team members, some of whom have been with the business for 5-10 years.
Currently, they have a couple of requirements to join one of their Agile squads, working on a core project for a key client using Java and Angular. They are ideally looking for Engineers comfortable with these technologies. The organisation is generally tech agnostic, providing a great environment for learning different technologies including Python, .Net, TypeScript, and extensive use of Cloud Services (both AWS and Azure).
You’ll be joining a squad of approximately 4-6 Engineers (depending on the project) and will be involved from initial design through to completion, gaining exposure to large-scale projects. Each team is well-defined, typically including a Project Lead, Software Architect, Front-End, Back-End or Full Stack Engineers, UX Specialists, Automation Engineers, and DevOps Engineers.
What sets them apart from other consultancies is that you’ll never be offshored to their client. You’ll work within the business at all times (either onsite or at home). They have a strict no-overtime policy, focusing on work-life balance, so there are no tight deadlines or late nights. Additionally, they offer flexible working arrangements, accommodating family needs such as school drop-offs or mid-day nursery appointments. The company also hosts multiple events, from guest speakers to weekly lunch treats for the team.
Their office is located in central Newcastle, easily accessible by public transport. They hope team members can come into the office once a week for SPRINTS, meetings, and tech events, but they are flexible with this.
They offer a competitive salary for this role (more than happy to discuss figures before submitting an application), along with a competitive benefits package that includes an annual training allowance, good pension, and a rewarding holiday scheme.
If you meet most of the criteria, please apply or feel free to reach out to Molly Candlish at Cathcart Technology for more information.
