About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting new opportunity for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to join our Regional Civils team. The role will facilitate the Regional Civils projects in Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to be part of the Balfour Beatty business unit delivering anything from minor works to major infrastructure projects. The role will include travel to different projects in the region and a company car will be provided.
The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor will:
* Support the planning and safe delivery of all projects within your region. Informing Balfour Beatty and the client on all statutory and best practice requirements throughout design to implementation.
* Assist all project management teams in the delivery of their overall project in respect of CDM compliance and aid the client in raising health safety and wellbeing standards onsite by promoting best practice.
* Support the broader Health, Safety, Wellbeing and Environmental agenda as required and ensuring governance, compliance and legal obligations are met.
* Be an ambassador for Balfour Beatty Build to Last – and our strategy for continuous improvement.
What you'll be doing
* Undertake planned project inspections / tours as per Frequency HSE Risk Matrix.
* Deliver pre-work site inspections to evaluate and address potential risks at planning stages.
* Review, track and trend unplanned events and support project / site management in their completion of incident investigations.
* Prepare written reports following all site visits, inspections, audits, and investigations.
* Review and update Project documentation in line with current Balfour Beatty procedures.
* Communicating and supporting project HSE KPIs, objectives and targets.
* Ensure compliance to the business emergency planning.
* Ensure that lessons learned from monitoring/incidents are communicated and adopted by relevant parties.
* Monitor site environmental aspects and impacts, escalate appropriately where required through Environmental & Sustainability team.
* Deliver training and advisory sessions to personnel and contractors in conjunction with HR teams.
* Support the delivery of the Behavioural (Make Safety Personal – MSP) Program.
* Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm and the Zero Harm Events Calendar..
* Deliver Safety Cascades informing projects of relevant safety alerts, fast facts and lessons learnt.
* Promote telematics and safe driving behaviour’s.
Who we're looking for
The following qualities/experience are required:
* NEBOSH Diploma OR equivalent.
* Grad IOSH working towards CMIOSH.
* Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) competence.
* Hold OR be willing & able to undergo security clearance through United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV)
* Good understanding of CDM2015 – Roles and Responsibilities.
* Competence in incident investigation.
* Demonstrable experience in a health and safety advisory role within construction.
* Strong health and safety legal knowledge and practical application.
* Experience of delivery of HS&W training.
* Proven ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture.
* Demonstrate ability to develop and implement risk free environment using best work practices and innovations.
* Proven track record delivering H&S support to multiple project teams.
* An exemplary communicator and able to build and maintain positive professional relationships at all levels.
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
* Internal Auditor qualification (ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and or 14001)
