Site Agent – Environment Scotland

An opportunity has arisen in Inverness for a Site Agent to join the team at Galliford Try. As a Site Agent, you will take full responsibility for management of your section of works ensuring you meet client and company performance expectations.
Ideally, you will be based in or around the Scottish Highlands and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.
What you will be doing:
1. Participate in creating a knowingly safe working environment.
2. Day to day management of a section of works including the supervision and monitoring of the site team and supply chain.
3. Plan, control and monitor the progress of the works and coordinate the section(s) of the project as allocated.
4. Manage multiple packages of work in conjunction with the commercial team taking full ownership of the costs for section of work assigned.
5. Ensure any changes in scope (operations, commercial, programme or design) are captured and managed.
6. Understand any temporary works requirements.
7. Undertake value engineering solutions.
8. Attend external meetings as required with clients and stakeholders, building effective relationships.
9. Report to the Project Manager on progress and performance.
10. Assist the Project Manager in administering the cost forecast, valuation and reporting systems.
11. Implementing and attending weekly and monthly site meetings.
12. Ensure all site team and supply chain are working to the latest design information.
13. Undertake material take offs where required and ensure materials are ordered and reconciled.
14. Conduct regular H&S checks and CDM audits.
15. Ensure Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), Permit to Work systems, site inductions and safety briefings are correctly carried out.
16. Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and problems that may arise.
17. Ensure and maintain strict quality control procedures.
18. Ensure site team keep site diaries up to date.
19. Effectively lead and manage direct reports ensuring appropriate competence is maintained, including annual PDR’s.
20. Monitor capability of staff and contractors to undertake current and prospective workloads and report to senior management.
21. Identify/assist in introducing new processes, techniques and innovations on site.
Experience and Qualifications:
1. Ability to work safely.
2. Experience of bulk excavation.
3. Able to manage multiple or larger packages of work.
4. Read & Interpret data, drawings specifications and schedules.
5. Highly organised and able to prioritise multiple workloads.
6. Adept at interfacing with site team, subcontractors, designer and the client.
7. Strong knowledge of CDM 15.
8. Excellent knowledge of NEC.
9. Commercially astute.
10. Able to interpret, extract and disseminate works information relating to program of works.
11. Proven leadership and delegation skills.
12. Advanced problem-solving skills.
13. HNC or higher in Civil Engineering.
14. SMSTS.
15. CSCS.
16. Office 365 expertise/CAD.
17. TWC (Preferred).
18. 1st Aid (Preferred).
19. Relevant Civil Engineering Experience.
