Clinical Research Facilities Tayside - Clinical Research Fellow
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a ST3+ doctor to support clinical research at the Clinical Research Facilities (CRFs) in NHS Tayside. This post is fixed term for one year, with the potential for extension.
The post holder will be based at the Clinical Research Centre (CRC) at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, but there will be split working, with time at the satellite CRFs, notably the Gannochy Research suite, at Perth Royal Infirmary (PRI). The split of time allocation will depend on the study demands at any given time. The successful candidate will contribute to the running of clinical trials examining novel treatments relevant to several clinical specialties, working alongside experienced research nurses and established Principal Investigators.
Day-to-day work will include screening, approach, and consenting of potential subjects, completion of study visits, assessment and reporting of adverse events, and general medical cover for clinical trial participants, including infusion monitoring and associated paperwork. Applicants must be willing and able to travel between Ninewells, Dundee, and PRI sites.
Training will be provided on commencement of the post in the conduct of clinical trials, including Good Clinical Practice, and study-specific training, including disease assessment and the performance and interpretation of techniques relevant to each study (e.g., lung function).
Opportunities will be available for attendance at specialist clinics and to gain experience in clinical research and procedures relevant to general medical specialties. There is some requirement for flexibility in working times dependent on study requirements, but there is no out-of-hours commitment.
Informal enquiries can be made to Professor Sally Ibbotson, Co-Director, Tayside Clinical Research Centre at s.h.ibbotson@dundee.ac.uk or sally.ibbotson@nhs.scot or through the CRC general telephone contact number: (01382) 632287.
