Community Integrated Care is one of the UK’s largest health and social care charities. We work hard to enriching the lives of people with many different care needs. It’s exciting and rewarding work, and we’re full of pride and passion for what we do.
Since the early days, we’ve grown to provide many innovative and bespoke care services to thousands of people across England and Scotland. We want to provide support based on the principles of choice, dignity and respect. This resonates in our vision of ‘Your Life, Your Choice’ and our strategy ‘Best Lives Possible’.We have strong values and we’re proud to pioneer new ways of delivering social care to stand out in our sector. In the past two years, we have won or made the shortlist for over national and regional awards! We are also focused on our people. Our Support Workers are dedicated and passionate about going ‘the extra mile’ for the people we support and in return, we go the extra mile for them by investing in pay, recognition, wellbeing and continued professional and personal development. We will provide you with all the training, support and personal protective equipment you need in your role and will help you develop, should you decide you want to develop your career with us.
Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role: Are you a positive and motivated person who loves going the extra mile to improve the lives of others?
Is it important for you to have a satisfying job where you feel supported?
If this sounds like you, maybe a Support Worker role with an award-winning charity is the change you’ve been looking for!
At our Blaydon service we support two individuals, who share a large bungalow together, to live the best lives possible by providing person-centred support to promote their independence. The people we support are both non-verbal, but can use VOCCA and gestures to communicate what they want.
The individuals we support are in their 20s-30s and have a wide variety of interests, so they are looking for a new team member who is interested in sharing in their interests! This will include supporting them to go swimming, go to concerts/theatre trips, attend disco and karaoke events, enjoy a bit of wheelchair dancing and host garden parties. In addition, the people we support need some support with everyday things like personal care, moving and positioning, PEG feeding, medication administration, financial planning, attending community groups, preparing meals and attending other social activities. We are looking for a flexible and reliable person to join their team, who is keen to support them to build independent living skills and ensure they are heard and supported to make their own choices.
We provide support from Monday - Sunday and are currently recruiting for a 37.5 hour post. Our shifts run from 9am - 9pm and 9pm - 9am (waking nights) and all staff are expected to work some waking nights and weekends on a rota basis. The people we support have their own mobility vehicles, so have a strong preference for a UK driving license holder to support them to get out and about. One of the values of Community Integrated Care is our passion for our people and every year we invest in our front-line worker pay in line with the Living Wage increase each April. Our promise has always been clear: we will do everything in our power to improve pay for colleagues. And so, if you start with us between now and 31 March your pay with be £11.94 and then from the 1st April, this will increase to £12.62 Your values:
We know it takes a special person to work in social care and we recognise that not everyone that would be perfect for the role, will have professional experience. This is why we're really passionate about recruiting to individuals’ values and we recruit people from all walks of life; From people with vast experience in a support worker or care assistant role, from people with lived experiences who may have friends or relatives with disabilities or have looked after older relatives, to people with no experience at all.
