We currently have an opportunity for an IT Infrastructure Manager to join our team based in Exeter or Bristol. Joining us on a full-time permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £62,000 - £71,000 per annum plus excellent benefits.
The Role
The IT Infrastructure Manager will be responsible for the Technology and Communications infrastructure including network, telephony, server, storage, backup, directory services, cloud (IaaS) and associated management within a security from the ground up environment.
What you’ll be doing:
* Management of both Network and Infrastructure (Storage / Server / Telecoms) Support Teams.
* Responsible for infrastructure assets, including servers, storage and network components including their maintenance and support.
* Ensuring that the monitoring and alerting of IT Infrastructure performance and capacity is in place with regular reporting provided.
* Ensure all infrastructure and telephony faults / outages are resolved in a timely fashion acting as the escalation of all operational Infrastructure requests.
* Ensure that appropriate backups exist of all infrastructure assets through the implementation of suitable controls and procedures.
* In collaboration with the ITSM Team, maintain appropriate documentation, update the CMDB with regard to Infrastructure and how they underpin IT services.
* Work with the IT Information Security and Compliance division to ensure all Infrastructure assets have appropriate threat mitigation controls / intrusion detection controls.
* Working in collaboration with the IT Vendor and Contracts Manager, manage existing IT support contracts through appropriate engagement with suppliers, while also supporting core infrastructure procurement through the planning and requisition of such assets in line with agreed budget, set out by the Group Head of IT Operations.
* Oversee significant changes to IT Infrastructure systems and services and plan and controls for upgrades to IT Infrastructure systems.
* Working closely with IT Infrastructure Architects, analyse, compare and implement highly complex technical solutions.
* Contribute to IT projects and solutions, meeting the agreed quality standards, timescales and cost budgets through the role of Senior Supplier or Chair as required.
* Support the data and information security requirements of the business and accordance with both local and regulatory governance and policy.
* Development and maintaining of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
* Understand and resolve highly complex technical and organisational issues.
* Ensure systems are fully tested and comply with security and confidentiality standards.
* Support the IT Infrastructure / Management / Incident out of hours stand-by service.
* Communicate with senior managers and stakeholders, deliver complex information to non-technical audiences, negotiate with users and suppliers, and maintain up-to-date system documentation.
* Respond to complex IT infrastructure queries, diagnose system issues, provide resolutions or workarounds, and escalate to IT Infrastructure Architects when needed.
* Prioritise tasks to meet IT targets, plan changes to minimise disruption, coordinate with teams, and adapt schedules as needed.
* Collaborate on Disaster Recovery planning, ensure policy compliance, and uphold security and operational standards.
* Lead and manage the IT Infrastructure team, oversee appraisals, training, and target setting, and support staff well-being.
What we are looking for:
* Experience working as a manager within a complex IT Directorate.
* High level of technical knowledge spanning networking, telephony, server and storage.
* Experience of planning and implementing highly complex technical changes within a ‘critical infrastructure’ environment.
* Ability to translate strategy into operational plans in order to deliver IT infrastructure services.
* Deliver and maintain strong governance within a complex IT environment.
* Current or previous technical qualifications within the IT infrastructure sector.
* ITIL Foundation.
* Recognised higher education (or equivalent) qualifications specific to role / Industry.
* Full UK driving license.
