What you’ll be doing
As a Casual Hire a Canoe Assistant, you’ll play a key role in delivering a fantastic experience for our customers. Your main responsibilities will include:
* Preparing and maintaining canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, and safety equipment.
* Greeting customers with a warm welcome and providing friendly, knowledgeable advice.
* Giving safety briefings and demonstrating paddling techniques.
* Assisting with customer bookings, handling payments, and keeping accurate records.
* Supporting groups on the water when needed, ensuring their safety and enjoyment.
* Helping with general maintenance and tidiness at our hire locations.
This is an active, hands-on role, perfect for someone who enjoys the outdoors and thrives in a customer-facing environment.

Where you’ll be based
You’ll be working across our scenic Hire a Canoe locations, including:
* Montford Bridge, Shrewsbury – A beautiful riverside setting where customers set off on their paddling adventures.
* Field Studies Council Preston Montford – A hub for environmental education and outdoor activities.
* Quarry Park, Shrewsbury – A spot in the heart of town, offering easy access to the water.
Each location offers a stunning natural backdrop, where you’ll be working outdoors and helping people enjoy the river safely.
We ask that you have:
* A positive, can-do attitude with great communication skills.
* A passion for the outdoors and excellent customer service skills.
* The ability to carry out manual handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment.
* Experience in handling cash and card payments
* Any relevant qualifications (BCU/BSUPA) or training in water rescue would be an advantage
