British Engines Group company, CMP Products, is a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of cable glands, cable cleats and cable accessories.
CMP manufactures its products from three facilities based in Cramlington, Northumberland, and has a global distribution network, supported by ten offices spread across six continents from Houston, USA, to Busan, South Korea.
As a Management Accountant, you will prepare management accounts and take a proactive role in preparing forecasts and budgets as well as providing accounting support to the operational and commercial teams and general cost control/management to the business.
This role will be undertaken across two sites at Cramlington and Bishop Auckland so you must be willing to travel.
What you’ll be doing
1. Manage the preparation of monthly management accounts, short-term forecasts and budgets in line with group reporting formats and deadlines
2. Regularly review and periodically update standard product costs
3. Responsible for setting standard costs of new products, in conjunction with the engineering department
4. Obtain, interpret and analyse data and take a proactive role in assisting the senior management team to understand financial information
5. Analyse and understand key trends for orders, sales, profit and cash, highlighting key issues and variances from budget and/or forecast for the senior management team
6. Prepare ‘bridges’/analysis highlighting key movements between actual and budget/forecast
7. Manage project data within the business system to ensure data integrity is maintained and financial results are prepared in line with statutory and group accounting policies
8. Full responsibility for balance sheet reconciliations
9. Responsibility for year-end processes ensuring stock counts are carried out appropriately and inventory is valued appropriately on the balance sheet
10. Submit and have responsibility for other monthly reporting requirements including monthly VAT submissions
11. Prepare financial analysis and commentary for inclusion in the monthly management report, including collation and review of other report sections
12. Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors and to provide disclosure packs and tax analysis
13. Undertake ad hoc project work, review of slow moving stocks, general cost analysis to help drive continuous financial improvement, financial modelling scenarios
Who we’re looking for
To apply, we ask that you are a qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, preferably in an operational environment. You will have strong technical accounting knowledge and practical experience of standard costing is preferred.

This position will be on a full-time, permanent basis working 35 hours per week, dayshift. To provide its employees an improvement in work/life balance, CMP operates a 9-day fortnight (9/10) where staff employees have the opportunity to work compressed working hours and as a result have every other Friday as a day off.
