Senior Operations Manager – Aon Underwriting Managers
Aon is currently recruiting a Senior Operations Manager to join Aon Underwriting Managers. The Senior Operations Manager will be primarily responsible for the delivery of effective operational support to the AUM business, driving high-quality internal standards and practices, and shaping and managing internal continuous improvement initiatives as the business continues to scale.
Please note this is a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Aon Underwriting Managers
Aon Underwriting Managers (AUM) is the in-house MGA working on behalf of insurers to provide underwriting, claims, and aggregation services to Aon’s broking divisions, supporting UK and global clients. The business is in an exciting growth phase with opportunities to shape new processes and technologies, driving improved client outcomes and high-performance teams.
What the day will look like
No two days will look the same, from designing underwriting and claims processes for new products to running a small team. Your role will require flexibility in style and approach. You will be empowered to manage your workload, planning and prioritizing quarterly activity, which may include running small projects as well as contributing your expertise to larger projects.
Reporting to the AUM COO, you will interact with different stakeholders across the UK business, including AUM teams and other functions, to drive targeted outcomes.
Responsibilities
1. Responsible for ensuring AUM can provide a first-class service to brokers and insurers through effective use of technology and process.
2. Act as SME in major projects and take a continuous improvement approach leading local initiatives.
3. Work with the AUM COO to define the long-term operational and digital strategy to support key business objectives.
4. Lead the operational planning and delivery of new initiatives, including new structured portfolio solution opportunities, process redesign, and technology.
5. Attend quarterly Operations Management Meetings, reporting on current and planned activity.
6. Deputise for COO as required, including engagement with the AUM Client Service Centre.
7. Define and deliver a continuous improvement program for operational aspects of the Underwriting and Claims processes.
8. Manage or participate in change initiatives, providing critical assessment and effective allocation of resources.
9. Responsible for resolution of high-impact operational issues requiring swift and measured decision-making.
10. Monitor and deliver KPIs as defined by the COO and AUM Executive Leadership.
11. Drive improvement in key operational results working with underwriting, claims, and the AUM Client Service Centre.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
1. Experience working in Insurance operations and/or projects, ideally within the London Market.
2. Experience with delegated authorities and technology beneficial.
3. Line management experience beneficial.
4. Experience documenting and analyzing process effectiveness.
5. Strong understanding of managing KPIs and operating within a regulated environment.
6. Client and service focused, with strong interpersonal skills.
7. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
8. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
9. Strong understanding of managing risk and the regulatory environment.
