We're recruiting for Project Managers in Bristol and Leeds. Our office is based in Denmead, Portsmouth.
Job Purpose
As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of construction projects, ensuring each scheme is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the expected quality standards.
Your role will involve strategic planning and day-to-day leadership of the project, acting as the key point of contact between clients, consultants, internal departments, and site teams. You will oversee the full project lifecycle – from pre-construction through delivery and handover – maintaining control of programme, cost, and quality while mitigating risks and driving efficiency.
By managing cross-functional collaboration and providing leadership across project teams, you will play a crucial role in ensuring client satisfaction and successful outcomes for the business.
Health & Safety Management
▪ Oversee compliance with health and safety legislation and ensure company procedures are followed across all project phases.
▪ Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement with site teams and subcontractors.
▪ Liaise with the SHEQ team to review RAMS, incident reports, and ensure mitigation strategies are in place.
▪ Ensure adequate emergency response planning is implemented and tested throughout the project lifecycle.
Project Delivery
▪ Lead the planning and delivery of construction projects from pre-construction through to completion and client handover.
▪ Develop, manage, and track master programmes and lookahead schedules.
▪ Chair regular progress meetings and ensure alignment of all teams to project milestones.
▪ Identify delays or risk areas early and initiate reprogramming or escalation actions to maintain delivery targets.
Quality Control
▪ Ensure all project outputs meet design intent, technical requirements, and client specifications.
▪ Coordinate with site teams and the QA department to verify adherence to inspection and test plans.
▪ Monitor and report on quality performance, ensuring close-out of defects prior to handover.
▪ Support the production of handover documentation and ensure compliance with O&M and warranty requirements.
Labour Management
▪ Coordinate with Site Managers to ensure the effective deployment of site labour and subcontractors.
▪ Align workforce requirements with the construction programme and procurement schedules.
▪ Ensure sufficient supervision and support is in place for operational delivery teams.
▪ Provide guidance and mentorship to team members to support their development.
Site Logistics and Tidiness
▪ Plan and oversee site logistics, including the delivery and storage of materials, equipment, and waste management.
▪ Ensure the site remains organised, clean, and tidy to promote safety and efficiency.
▪ Implement traffic management plans and oversee site access for deliveries and personnel.
Coordination
▪ Aid the Project Team in the coordination of site activities, ensuring all work aligns with project objectives.
▪ Liaise with architects, consultants, and design teams to resolve technical queries.
▪ Collaborate across departments, including procurement, design, and commercial, to facilitate seamless operations.
Team Leadership
▪ Manage and mentor Site Managers and Supervisors, ensuring their professional development.
▪ Foster collaboration and effective communication within the site team.
▪ Support team morale and address challenges proactively to maintain a productive working environment.
▪ Set expectations, drive accountability, and support personal development across the team.
Cost and Resource Management
▪ Monitor site expenses to ensure projects remain within budget.
▪ Identify and manage potential variations, communicating with commercial teams as needed.
▪ Collaborate with procurement to ensure timely delivery of cost-effective materials.
Environmental and Sustainability Compliance
▪ Ensure compliance with waste management plans and promote sustainable practices.
▪ Monitor environmental risks, including dust, noise, and water runoff, and implement mitigation measures.
Documentation and Reporting
▪ Ensure accurate project records are maintained across programme, cost, risk, and change control.
▪ Oversee production of monthly client reports and internal dashboards.
▪ Support the collation of O&M manuals and ensure readiness for project handover and close-out.
Collaboration and Multi-Site Coordination
▪ Work alongside other Site Managers as required, depending on project size and complexity.
▪ Support seamless operations across multiple teams and departments, including design, commercial, and procurement.
