Are you an existing highly specialist (Band 7) Speech and Language Therapist looking for a change, or an experienced senior (Band 6) ready for the next step working with adults who have communication and swallowing problems as a result of a stroke?
A very warm welcome awaits you at Wirral University Teaching Hospital in the Stroke Early Supported Discharge (ESD) Team.
The ESD team is based at Clatterbridge General Hospital and comprises of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Therapy Assistants, along with Speech and Language Therapists.
You will have a Speech and Language degree qualification and be registered with the HCPC and ideally be a member of RCSLT.
Main duties of the job
The post involves provision of assessment, treatment, and advice to adults with communication and swallowing difficulties as a result of a stroke in their own homes.

Job responsibilities
* Clinical Lead role in the assessment and treatment of patients within a speciality, maintaining a high standard of clinical practice.
* To provide leadership within speciality and to be a role model to all AHP staff across the directorate.
* To participate in providing 7-day services and an extended working day, as required.
* Working with clinical Team Leader and AHP Management team to provide a coordinated quality service.

Person Specification
Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
* BSc or equivalent qualification recognised by HCPC in Speech and Language Therapy.
* HCPC registration.
* Post-graduate experience in a relevant area of work at a senior level.
* Demonstrate a high degree of expertise and competency in assessment and treatment.
* Ability to work as an autonomous clinician, managing own caseload, including complex patients.
* To have the analytical ability to review treatment/services.
* Demonstrate awareness of the roles of others in providing patient care.
* Ability to identify learning needs and develop the skills of staff and students in speciality.
* Member of the Royal College Of Speech and Language Therapists.
* Active collection of relevant CPD in portfolio.
* Evidence of significant and relevant post-registration training.
Knowledge and Skills
* Basic computer skills.
* Well-developed theoretical knowledge underpinning practice.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Good analytical, problem-solving, and clinical reasoning skills.
* Knowledge and experience in hospital computer system.
* Ability to communicate within difficult circumstances and demonstrate an empathetic approach to patients.

Salary: £46,148 to £52,809 a year pro rata.
