Main duties of the job
The Therapy Assistant Practitioner will work in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team, working closely with specialist nurses, therapists, consultants, ward nursing staff, community therapy services, discharge support teams and dietitians.
The successful post holder will be expected to work as part of an integrated therapy team, consisting of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants in order to provide excellent therapy care for patients admitted to the Trust's Emergency Department and Acute Assessment Units.
You should have a broad level of experience of working within the acute setting to apply for this role as the caseload can be very varied, however the majority of the caseload is falls assessments, interventions and prevention, admission avoidance and discharge planning and the majority of the patients you will see will have a range of co-morbidities and long term conditions.

Job responsibilities
* To accept patients delegated by a therapist or identified under a protocol, and carry as own patient caseload.
* Treat patients according to set treatment protocols, monitoring patient progression, making alterations to patient treatment programmes as required.
* Work unsupervised reporting back patient progress and informing therapist of any problems.
* This post holder will be expected to participate in six or seven day working patterns.
* Assist the therapist in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients using a range of physical therapy techniques.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good general education (to GCSE or equivalent)
* Relevant QCF (NVQ) 3 in Therapy / relevant health related area
* Foundation Degree or aptitude and commitment to undertake
Knowledge
* Relaying information and explaining therapy issues to qualified health professionals across all disciplines and representing therapy at formal meetings e.g. Case Conferences, MDT meetings.
Experience
* Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Senior Therapy Assistant in an acute setting.
* Experience of documenting and evidencing learning.
