We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer with project management experience to join a well-established organisation in Lancashire. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to major capital investment projects within the nuclear industry, ensuring operational, functional, and safety excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the delivery of engineering solutions, aligning with safety, operational, and functional requirements.
Manage and coordinate design and safety case teams, including external suppliers, to meet project objectives on time and within budget.
Ensure integration of engineering design, safety cases, and investment delivery processes.
Define and document project scope, ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
Conduct ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) studies to evaluate and optimise technical solutions.
Oversee the design validation process, ensuring safety and operational requirements are met.
Act as the primary interface between project teams and technical authorities.
Ensure adherence to design control processes throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide engineering oversight to ensure efficient and effective design execution, avoiding unnecessary complexity.
Collaborate with project managers to align engineering activities with overall project plans and cost schedules.
Maintain clear communication with stakeholders and attend key project accountability meetings.
What We're Looking For:
Essential: A minimum HNC (or equivalent) in a STEM subject (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Maths).
Desirable: A degree in Engineering or Science and Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it).
Proven experience in mechanical engineering and project management within the nuclear industry.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
Familiarity with nuclear safety regulations, design control processes, and investment delivery frameworks.
