Are you a caring person that can cope under pressure in challenging situations?
Do you want to make a difference and have a rewarding career?
Or are you already a dedicated support worker, but looking for a change?
We are looking for Advanced Support Workers to join our Complex Supported Living Service in Ferrybridge (Wakefield WF11!)
At Millennium, we support vulnerable adults that may have a learning disability, autism, other complex needs, and may also display behaviours of distress. Starting as one service in Featherstone in 1998, we are now a growing and forward-thinking organisation that strives to make a positive mark on the Health and Social Care sector. We operate services across the Yorkshire and Warwickshire area that specialise in supporting adults with learning disabilities, Autism and complex trauma on their journeys through life and in the community. From transitioning from hospital to a safe new home, to fostering friendships and building skills, we offer person-centred support, tailored to support individuals no matter their circumstances.
We work in line with the Transforming Care Agenda and will support you to provide Positive Behaviour Support. This means the People We Support are provided with bespoke and person-centred support that will provide them with the foundations to gain further independence.
By following this model with us, you would be supporting people to gain life skills at home and in the community, which is an extremely rewarding opportunity as you will have a major impact on the lives of the People We Support by supporting them on their journey to further independence.
As an Advanced Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support to empower vulnerable adults with learning disabilities and Autism that may display behaviours that challenge and complex needs.
You will receive full training around Autism, forensic risk, trauma-informed support and positive behavioural support. You will also receive dedicated and person-centred support from your Advanced Team Leader through regular supervisions and guidance on your development.
If you work with us, we will provide you with:
* £13.53 per hour!
* A sleep-in rate of £65.15
* The chance to gain your essential skills certificate
* Full training around Autism, forensic risk, trauma-informed support and positive behavioural support.
* Full and part-time opportunities
* Continuous investment in your development (including NVQ opportunities)
* £200 when you refer a friend to work with us
* Access to a blue light discount card
* Life assurance benefit
* Access to an Employee Assistance Programme (including counselling and CBT)
* Access to a pension, health cash plan and cycle to work scheme
What we are looking for:
* Ability to be resilient and cope with challenging situations
* Experience of working in a similar form of challenging environment (for example, in a similar complex support service, supporting someone with behaviours that challenge in your personal life, a hospital or secure setting, the prison service, in security, the military etc)
* Someone with a compassionate approach
* A commitment to supporting vulnerable people to become more independent
* Someone who can demonstrate our core values
* A genuine passion to make a difference
What the job involves, day to day:
* Supporting individuals with complex needs in a sensitive and person-centred way
* Working as part of a team (in a minimum 2:1 support ratio) to deliver a person-centred support plan.
* Documenting and maintaining accurate records of support.
* Supporting the People We Support to carry out their hobbies and interests in the community.
* Empowering the People We Support to gain life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, shopping and managing their finances, at home and in the community.
* Being responsible for administering medication.
* Supporting the People We Support in line with our core values.
We welcome applications from a very diverse range of people who have the right to work in the UK. We are not able to offer sponsorship to candidates at this time.
We look forward to hearing from you!
