Tudor Employment Agency is currently recruiting for a CAD / CAM Programmer to work for our client based in Cannock.
About the role: Manage and take ownership of all laser programming tasks to ensure completion of works orders within agreed timescales and to the required quality standard. In the long term, there will be an opportunity to progress in this role for the right candidate.
Duties will include:
* Create 2D nests for flatbed laser processing using Trumpf TruTops Software.
* Nest for optimum material utilisation – maximising material usage and minimising waste.
* Program 2D nests using efficient cutting paths and technologies.
* Utilise MRP software to document work order nests.
* Assign material to nests created to maintain full traceability for ISO 9001.
* Raise PO’s and book in material on MRP software.
* Organise own workload – including daily checks on work orders not nested to keep on top of nesting OTIF KPI.
* Ensure works orders and associated nesting programmes are issued in accordance with customers' deadlines.
* Interpret engineering drawings – taking note of grain directions, start/stop points etc.
* Maintain meticulous program control when using repeat nests.
* Stay current with advancements in laser cutting technology and software tools, implementing new techniques and methodologies as appropriate.
* Ensure all quality, HSE and environmental processes/procedures are followed at all times, addressing any quality issues promptly.
* Admin duties such as work sorting as requested by the Engineering Team Leader.
* Ensure effective communication with customers, team members, and suppliers.
The successful candidate:
* Background within a laser/fabrication/sheet metal manufacturing environment.
* Structured, methodical, and fact-based approach to problem solving and decision-making.
* Focused on delivering high standard customer service both internally and externally.
* Experience in TruTops is advantageous (or another laser-based CAM software).
* Experience programming lasers and/or press brake machinery – including familiarity with programming techniques such as common cutting, looping, contour parameters, lead ins/out, corner rads, tags, cutting gases etc.
* Familiarity with MRP software.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Knowledge of engineering processes and materials.
* High level of numerical and analytical ability.
* Competent in all aspects of Microsoft Office.
* Team player, self-motivated.
* Positive attitude, proactive and enthusiastic.
* Detail-oriented.
Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday 7.30am – 4pm / Friday 7.30am – 1pm.
