About the Role
Key details:
* Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, 40 hours per week
* Wage: £7.55 per hour
* Location: 142-144 Queen Alexandra Road West, North Shields, Tyne and Wear, NE29 9AF
* Apprenticeship Standard: Level 3 Early Years Educator
* Duration: 18 months
Overview of the role:
We are looking for someone with a passion for working with children, contributing to their physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care. You will support and work with the team to provide an enabling environment for children to play, learn, and develop.
Key responsibilities:
* Operate a program of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of children in conjunction with other team members.
* Keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys, sharing this with parents and other key adults.
* Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
* Liaise with and support parents and other family members.
* Participate in out-of-working-hours activities, such as training, staff meetings, and fundraising events.
* Be flexible within working practices of the nursery, including undertaking certain domestic duties.
* Work alongside the Manager and staff team to fulfill the nursery’s philosophy.
* Read, understand, and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role.
* Record accidents in the accident book and ensure the Duty Manager has initialed the report before parents receive it.
* Be aware of the individual needs of all children.
* Ensure that someone known and agreed by the nursery and parent collects the child.
* Respect the confidentiality of all information received.
Specific childcare tasks:
* Prepare and complete activities suited to each child's stage of development and interests.
* Develop your role within the team, especially regarding being a key person.
* Ensure that mealtimes are pleasant social sharing experiences.
* Wash and change children as required.
* Maintain good standards of safety, hygiene, and cleanliness at all times.
* Ensure a poorly child is kept calm and warm, notifying management immediately.
* Develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers.
* Provide a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children.
* Uphold the nursery's standards at all times, both within and outside work hours.
Apprenticeship Summary:
* You will work towards your Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification over 18 months.

* All online/remote learning, no classroom or college day release.
* An allocated tutor will support you throughout the apprenticeship.

Experience Required:
* Some personal or professional experience in childcare - Preferred.
