Are you an experienced band 5 therapist looking to progress into a specialist post, or a band 6 therapist looking for a new opportunity? Due to service reorganisation, an exciting opportunity has arisen in our Adult Speech and Language Therapy team based at Solihull Hospital. This is a mixed post working two days in the Early Supported Discharge team as part of the stroke service, two days in the Adult Acquired community team, with a wide range of clinical conditions, plus one day in the Parkinson's Disease MDT outpatient's clinic based at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital.
This post would suit an individual who is passionate about supporting adults with swallowing and communication difficulties in a community setting, and who will thrive in a varied role.
You will join a small and friendly team based at Solihull Hospital, who are committed to providing the best care for these client groups. With a huge amount of experience within the team, you will be well supported in progressing your clinical skills.
The adult community and ESD teams are part of a large and supportive service working across Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals, and you will have the opportunity to work with highly specialist therapists across a wide range of specialties.
Main duties of the job
You will be welcomed into the team with excellent training and development opportunities, as well as a robust supervision and appraisal system.
You will manage a varied caseload of adults with an acquired impairment of communication and/or swallowing, which will include adults living with dementia, neurological conditions and stroke.
You will assess, diagnose, plan and deliver treatment programmes to adults living in their own homes and care settings, as well as outpatient clinics.
You will be responsible for your own caseload, working without direct supervision but with excellent support from the team lead.
Due to the nature of the post, it is essential that you have access to your own transport.
With excellent transport links and close proximity to the town centre and green spaces, Solihull is a great place to work! By joining our friendly and inclusive team, you will have access to a wealth of support, with opportunities to meet therapy colleagues from a range of specialities during our regular wellbeing events.
