Job Description
Job Summary:
The Diesel Mechanic will oversee the performance and maintenance of large production machinery.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on diesel trucks and trailers.
2. Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
3. Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
4. Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
5. Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
6. Repairs broken equipment quickly and efficiently.
7. Prepares reports documenting work performed.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
1. Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
2. Works well independently and with others.
3. Good communication skills.
4. Organized with attention to detail.
5. Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
Education and Experience:
Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience, required.
Physical Requirements:
1. Prolonged periods standing and walking.
2. Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
3. Must be able to visually inspect machines.
4. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
