The Role
Bolton Council is transforming its estate to meet the needs of our workforce and communities. We are looking for two experienced Clerk of Works to inspects the workmanship, quality and safety of work on construction / development sites across the Council’s estate. The role is crucial to the successful completion of all the Council’s property projects, achieving value for money, the highest quality delivery of projects and adherence to recognised quality and safety standards per design information and drawings.
Key responsibilities include the inspection of repairs, refurbishments and construction works, monitoring progress and quality and to ensure conformity to specification / contract requirements and statutory regulations You will also produce site progress and quality inspection reports, using appropriate software and assist with the handover processes and perform snagging and post-occupation defect inspections You will provide written weekly reports on quality and progress, with photographic records and liaise with contractors, project managers, residents, internal and external stakeholders and agencies.
About You
Ideally, have prior Clerk of Works experience and a HNC / HND or equivalent qualification. You must have excellent verbal and written presentation skills, strong MS Office skills, competent in online reporting and document management systems to review drawings, specifications and schedules and be able to develop good working relations with project teams. A good understanding of the building industry is desirable and you must have excellent organisation skills and attention to detail. You must also have access to a car and a clean driving licence.
