All staff are given the opportunity to express their interest in specialist areas such as CT, MRI, Intervention Radiography and Cardiology, where additional training and competency sign off is required.
We provide Imaging services at City Hospital in Birmingham, Sandwell General Hospital in West Bromwich, Rowley Regis Community Hospital, Neptune Park Health Centre and Winson Green Prison.
Rowley Regis Community Hospital provides rehabilitation and a wide range of outpatient and diagnostic services. Neptune Park Health Centre imaging facility supports the ever-growing demand on the GP surgery.
Main duties of the job
Sandwell General Hospital and City Hospital are busy acute hospitals providing many specialist services and a broad range of emergency services, including Emergency Department, Stroke, Cardiac and Maternity services. These acute services will move to the MMUH Hospital site once open in October 2024, leaving the remaining City and Sandwell Sites as outpatient facilities.
We have recently expanded our Radiographer numbers resulting in a dedicated team keen to welcome and support new talent. You will be expected to participate in our busy Out of Hours and seven-day service and to work from any of our sites including MMUH, City Hospital and Sandwell General Hospital.
We understand that the early days in a new job can be daunting, and our Practice Educator will be on hand to offer support, ensuring you build confidence in a safe, protected and encouraging environment. On your first day you will be met by our Practice Educator or one of our Superintendent Radiographers, and this will be an opportunity to complete any necessary paperwork and ask any questions you have.
We will then expect you to complete an 8 - 12-week induction period, where we will allocate time in all general areas signing off your competency documents as you build confidence. Following your induction, all your shifts will be allocated to you via the Allocate rostering system.
Working for our organisation
Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust (SWBT) is an integrated care organisation with a budget of approximately £600 million and over 7,000 staff. Diversity and social care is at the core of what we do as the Trust provides Community and Acute Services to over half a million people in an urban center that demands massive regeneration and has substantial premature mortality.
Our new acute hospital, the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), opens in October 2024 and will provide care to our local population from first-class, purpose-built premises. The development of the new hospital will play an important role in the regeneration of the wider area and in improving the lives of local people and reducing health inequalities.
