Job Title: Director, Counseling and Psychological Services Physical Location: Kent Campus - Kent, OH Salary: $84,974 - $118,866 Basic Function: To provide direction and leadership in the administration, planning, evaluation, budget administration, and strategic vision for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS); to provide professional mental health services to students of the University; to promote students’ personal development, welfare, and well-being. Serves as the Chief Psychologists and a member of the CAPS staff, providing clinical, supervision, outreach, and consultation services and acts as a critical member of collaborative support and crisis management for the university. Reports to the Dean of Students. Additional Basic Function – if applicable: Examples of Duties: Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: Provide interaction and communication with other departments of the University by coordinating the services of the Counseling Center Determine mental health priorities, services, and protocols for Kent State students. Plan, develop, and evaluate delivery of mental health services; hire, schedule, evaluate, and supervise assigned staff. Ensure financial responsibility of the unit and supervising all expenditures Develop programs and presentations regarding services offered by CAPS. Direct and provide clinical services (i.e., psychological assessment, psychotherapy); supervise high risk clinical cases. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and University regulations relating to mental health care. Contribute and collaborate with professionals within the CARES (Crisis, Advocacy, Resources, Education, and Support) Center and others within the university community in developing programs for the prevention of psychological and behavioral challenges and promote positive and healthy mental well-being. Consult with staff, administrators, faculty, parents and students as necessary to facilitate the coordination of care for our students. Maintain clinical records. Serve on various department, division, and University committees, including Care Team (behavioral intervention team) Perform related duties as assigned. Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable: Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology; six years progressively responsible experience in clinical counseling which includes three years experience in a higher education setting. License/Certification: Licensure in the State of Ohio Knowledge Of: Practice a wide range of counseling and psychotherapy methods Use of effective crisis intervention skills Effective leadership and management of a team Skill In: Written and interpersonal communication Team development and implementing change Conflict management and organizational behavior Engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds Ability To: Provide leadership and direction Develop strategic plans Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programs and services Manage emergency mental health situations Develop and manage budgets Work with diverse constituencies Maintain knowledge of, and adjust to, changing conditions in mental health, and higher education Provide direct patient care as training and licensure/certification permits Preferred Qualifications – if applicable: Ten years of experience in clinical counseling as a licensed mental health professional Four years of leading a university counseling center Assessments: Asterisk () indicates knowledge, skills, abilities which may require assessments.
