Job Description:
As a Criminal Solicitor at GHC/Maurice Andrew, you will play a critical role in representing clients in criminal cases, ensuring their rights are protected, and delivering robust legal advice. You will handle a diverse caseload, from minor offenses to serious criminal matters, providing high-quality service at every stage of the legal process.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Case Management: Manage a varied caseload of criminal matters, including but not limited to theft, assault, fraud, and serious offenses.
2. Client Representation: Represent clients in Magistrates’ and Crown Courts, providing expert legal advice and advocacy.
3. Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research and keep up-to-date with changes in criminal law.
4. Documentation: Prepare and review legal documents, including witness statements, court applications, and legal submissions.
5. Client Liaison: Maintain regular contact with clients, offering clear and concise legal advice tailored to their specific situations.
6. Collaboration: Work closely with other legal professionals, including barristers, paralegals, and expert witnesses, to build strong cases.
7. Court Attendance: Attend and represent clients in court, including police station attendances, bail applications, and trials.
8. Compliance: Ensure all legal activities comply with relevant regulations and professional standards.
Requirements:
1. Qualifications: Qualified Solicitor with a current practicing certificate.
2. Experience: Minimum of 1 years' post-qualification experience (PQE) in criminal law.
3. Skills: Strong advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to manage a demanding caseload with professionalism and efficiency.
4. Knowledge: In-depth understanding of criminal law and court procedures. Familiarity with legal aid processes and regulations.
5. Personal Attributes: High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for clients.
6. Driving License: A valid driving license is preferred as the role may involve travel to various court locations.
