We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant who hasexperience of Primary Care, although training will be given to the rightcandidate. You will be carrying out the following duties: Phlebotomy,Dressings, NHS Health checks, ECGs, blood pressure checks, administeringinjections such as Flu and pneumonia, Annual health checks for chronicconditions etc and will work full-time during our core hours which are 8 am to
Main duties of the job
Working under the supervision of the Lead Nurse andteam members you will demonstrate developing competence and clinical skills inthe duties listed below, ensuring all information is clearly and objectivelyrecorded according to practice policy.
Perform and record an ECG.
Blood Pressure checks
Phlebotomy.
Assist with setting up ofequipment and chaperoning for Women's Health Procedures.
Application of dressings asdirected by Practice Nurse.
NHS Health checks and Annual ChronicDisease
Maintain stock levels / emptyingclinical waste in consulting rooms.
Recording of specimens prior todispatch by courier.
Liaison with pathologydepartments within secondary care as required.
Chaperoning for other cliniciansas required.
General administrative supportand computer data entry.
Any other duties as deemed appropriateto meet the needs of the Practice in the future.

The purpose of the post is to assist the GPs andnurse team in the delivery of safe, high quality primary care services to thepractice population. The post holder will undertake delegated tasks and dutiesunder indirect supervision of members of the nursing team. The post holder willwork within clear parameters and lines of accountability after appropriate trainingand assessment of competence.
Job Responsibilities/Principal Duties to include:
Under indirect supervision,assist in the delivery of primary health care interventions and careeffectively and efficiently.
Prepare and maintainenvironments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions.
Monitors and orders stock levelsand equipment.
Responsible for the security,care and maintenance of equipment ensuring standards of infection control andsafety are maintained.
Act as chaperone asrequired/instructed.
Maintenance of accurate andlegible patient records in line with organisational requirements this includescontemporary paper records and electronic patient record system.
Ensure that confidentiality,privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs of patients are maintained and in line withorganisational policy.
Working collaboratively with themulti-disciplinary general practice team and other healthcare professionals topromote integrated pathways of care to meet patient needs.
Effective communication withpatients, carers and all members of the MDT.
Effective prioritisation andcompletion of daily work.
Ensure that any complaints orincidents are identified and reported to the Lead Nurse or Practice Manager inaccordance with the organisational policy and expected professional practice.
Ensure clinical practice is safeand effective and remains within boundaries of competence and to acknowledgelimitations.
Clinical care delivery
Working within guidelines and protocols undertakeand record:
Urinalysis and preparation ofspecimens for laboratory analysis.
Temperature, pulse andrespiratory rate.
Weight, height, waistcircumference and Body Mass Index.
Measurement of legs forcompression hosiery.
ECGs,
Near patient testing bloodglucose, lipids and INR.
Doppler ultrasound measurementworking with registered nurse.
Measurement of airway function(peak expiratory flow rate and spirometry).
Perform chaperoning duties asrequested.
Obtain venous blood samples fromindividuals for investigation if required.
Processing and management oflaboratory samples requested by Doctors/Nurses.
Administer selected vaccines inaccordance with the national schedule and legal authorization.
Administer medications byinjection with the appropriate legal authorisation.
Undertake vaccine/cold chainstorage, monitoring and recording.
Carry out care of wounds andapply dressings after initial assessment by registered nurse.
Remove wound closure materialsincluding sutures, clips and staples.
Assist clinicians carrying outminor surgical procedures including sterilising, cleansing and maintenance ofsurgical equipment.
Prepare and maintainenvironments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions.
Assisting in the assessment andsurveillance of patients health and well-being.
Undertaking specific clinicalactivities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specificallyin relation to that individual.
Helping to raise awareness ofhealth and well-being and how it can be promoted.
Assisting with the collectionand collation of data on needs related to health and well-being.
Other Tasks
Duties may vary from time to time under thedirection of the Senior nurse, dependent on current and evolving clinical practicedevelopments.
Administrative/service support
Assist with management ofclinical supplies monitoring stock levels, ordering, re-stocking ofclinical areas and maintenance of equipment.
Participate in qualityimprovement audit, development of protocols and new services.
Attend practice/clinical/nursemeetings and contribute to the agenda in the development of the nursing serviceand where appropriate wider practice systems.
Personal/professional development
Complete statutory training/updatingand mandatory training as specified by the practice policy.
Complete skills specifictraining and regular updating.
Inform practice manager orregistered nurse if unable to perform any aspect of role competently.
Actively participates andcontributes to nurse team meetings.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Basic English and Maths GCE level C and above
2. New grade 4 and above
3. Phlebotomy
Desirable
4. Completed Care Certificate.
5. Qualified to NVQ level 2.
Experience

6. Ability to accept training, coaching and guidance (in prep for Care Certificate study).
7. Previous healthcare experience in clinical role.
