THALES are looking to recruit a Field Services Engineer to be based at Cheadle Site for our Sonar Equipment.
Thales is the principal provider of Sonar equipment, support and expertise to the Royal Navy, having supplied the guardians of the sea with specialist Sonar equipment for over 60 years.
As a Field Services Engineer, you will be responsible for the deployment, setting to work and in service support of Sonar and or Electronic Warfare Systems deployed on Royal Navy and export customers Ships / Submarines.

Working hours – Monday to Thursday 07:00am till 15:30pm, Friday 07:00am till 12:00pm
What will you deliver?
8. Be responsible for the Health and Safety of all Thales activities carried out by you and comply with the following:
9. Support to both Royal Navy and Export Platforms in Defect Rectification:Conduct and Supervise Front-line support including Fault diagnosis and testing as well as acceptance trials both in harbour and at sea.Provide On-Call telephone support to our customers (Once at a suitable level of knowledge).Write site visit reports.
10. Support to both Royal Navy and Export Platforms Maintenance Periods / Refits:Conduct Pre-Upkeep Maintenance Assessment (PUMA) inspections.Conduct scheduled maintenance activitiesEscalate engineering issues to the Field Services Manager or Service Delivery Manager as required.Write post maintenance reports.
11. Weekly reports to the Service Delivery Manager Field Services Manager or Service Delivery Manager as requiredActivities undertaken.Upcoming activities.Successes, challenges, opportunities.Identify any support required from the project or department.
12. Compliance with all export control rules and regulations including International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Who are we looking for?
13. Significant experience of working with Electronic Equipment. Some experience of Electrical and Hydraulics System would be advantages
14. Network / IT experience would also be a benefit.
15. Experience of working with the Armed forces with an understanding of their procedures would be advantages
16. Someone who can 100% follow procedures but is also able to suggest improvements based on their own experience and knowledge
17. We are after someone who likes to be hands on but understands the importance of good documentation and regular and ckear updates
18. Happy to work at heights and within confined spaces
19. Someone willing to spend a time away from the Factory (usually up to 50% of their time). Flexible often responding at a couple of days notice to customer needs
