Our Pet Loss Support service is a lifeline for people facing one of the hardest times in their lives. We are looking for a Pet Loss Support Administrator to play a key role in ensuring this vital service runs smoothly every day of the year.
More about the role
As our Pet Loss Support (PLS) Administrator, you’ll be the heart of our service, ensuring everything runs seamlessly and providing vital support to our team and volunteers. Your days will be varied, meaningful, and filled with opportunities to make a real difference.
Each day will see you:
* Handling enquiries via phone, email, and post with care and professionalism, being a trusted point of contact for those who need us.
* Creating and maintaining volunteer rotas to keep our helpline, email, webchat, and Facebook services operating 365 days a year.
* Administering our e-learning courses by managing bookings, issuing certificates, and supporting students with their queries.
* Coordinating external training and events, including webinars and shows, while promoting our services to veterinary practices, crematoriums, and charities nationwide.
* Keeping our databases up to date, distributing marketing materials, and producing newsletters to keep our volunteers informed and engaged.
This is a part-time role, working three days a week, ideally Tuesday to Thursday, but we’re happy to be flexible to suit the right candidate.
About you
We’re looking for someone who’s organised, flexible, and ready to take on a busy but rewarding role. You’ll need to be a great communicator, whether it’s over the phone, by email, or face-to-face, and have no trouble juggling tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
If you’ve got a genuine empathy for the bond between people and their pets, that’s even better. We need someone who’s diplomatic, sensitive, and confident working with confidential information. You’ll be just as comfortable working independently as you are being part of a team—and always ready to step up and get things done.
Experience using social media to engage with audiences or promote services would be a real bonus, as it’s a big part of how we connect with the people we support.
Essential knowledge, skills, and experience
* Computer literate - MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
* Experience and proficiency in working effectively in a team
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to express information clearly and confidently at all levels, both written and verbal
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload, manage time effectively and work to deadlines
* Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
Although not essential, it would be great if you also had:
* Experience within the charity and/or animal welfare sector
* Experience of administrating e-learning and webinars
* Experience in the use of social media for engagement, communication or marketing purposes

Blue Cross is a national charity that has been helping sick, injured and homeless pets since 1897.
Every month we help thousands of pets and their people by providing veterinary care, expert behaviour advice and find homeless pets loving families. We also offer education for future generations plus pet bereavement support for those who have lost their beloved pet companion.
We love the ways that pets can make such an amazing difference to the people they live with and we offer lifelong support and advice to help that unique relationship thrive. With your support we can give back to more pets and their families who need our help.
Pets change lives. We change theirs.
