This service is a dormer bungalow for 5 ladies. Some of the ladies are independent and will do personal care themselves.
They enjoy going out for local walks around the community and participate in a group activity at home once a week, which is an arts and crafts session with a person who comes into the service. All the ladies enjoy going out for meals and meeting new people; they will tell staff what they would like to do on the day.
This service requires sleep-ins, but all the ladies sleep well at night and do not tend to wake up.
It requires two staff during the day and one sleep-in at night. It is a small staff team, but all staff have worked at the service for a while and know all the ladies well.
The ladies appreciate staff who interact with them and engage in activities they enjoy. Three of the ladies can make themselves a simple lunch, such as a sandwich, and just require staff supervision for this.
The main meal is cooked by staff, but staff encourage the ladies to participate in cooking to help promote their independence. They are also encouraged to take part in the daily cleaning of the house and the washing of their clothes. All the ladies like to sit with staff and share about their day and any worries they may have, and staff will talk and advise them if needed.
