Job summary
Parkgate Medical Centre is looking to recruit a further Practice Nurse to join our Nursing Team and continue to provide a high quality patient service within a safe and effective working environment. The Nurses play a fundamental role in the practice providing skills and expertise valued by the team and the community.
Main duties of the job
Vaccination and Immunisation for adults and children including travel health.
Routine procedures including ear irrigation, wound care and dressings.
Sexual health and contraception.
Cervical cytology.
Chronic Disease Management.
About us
Parkgate Medical Centre consists of GPs, Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Phlebotomist, Receptionists and an Administration team. We are a training practice and have GP Registrars and Foundation Doctors throughout the year. We also have additional team members provided by our PCN which include, ANPs, Physiotherapists, Social Prescribers, Mental Health Workers and Pharmacists.
One of the underpinning values of the practice is training and development. The nurses are encouraged to progress with training and skills to benefit their personal development and that of the practice.

Job responsibilities
Experience in Chronic Disease Management - Asthma/COPD/Diabetes/Hypertension with a knowledge of national and local guidelines with the ability to apply these to individual patients and set targets.
Cervical Cytology.
Travel Health/Child Health and routine & Immunisations.
Promotion of health and wellbeing.
General Practice Nurse duties.
Deliver opportunistic health promotion.
Recognise and work within own competence and professional code of conduct as regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Produced accurate and complete records of patient consultation, consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.
Prioritise, organise and manage own workload in a manner that maintained and promotes quality.
Work as an effective and responsible team member, supporting others and exploring the mechanisms to develop new ways of working.
Person Specification
Experience
Essential
1. Minimum 2 years post registration experience.
2. Experience of working within a Nursing team.
Desirable
3. Experience of working in primary care.
Knowledge

4. Knowledge of patient group directions.
5. Knowledge of health promotion strategies.
Qualifications

6. Nurse with NMC Registration
7. IT skills
8. Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
9. Awareness of accountability of own role.
10. Willingness to undertake education and training appropriate to the Practice Nurse post.
11. Team player.
