The School and Role
A specialist Learning Hub in Newcastle upon Tyne are looking to appoint a dedicated Learning Mentor to work with young people across West Northumberland who have who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. In the role of a Learning Mentor, you will be allocated key young people who require additional support in developing their communication, social skills and academic engagement. You will be required to adapt your mentoring style to make the young person feel safe and secure, with the long term goal of overcoming barriers to their education.
You will work between the hours of 8.30am - 15.30pm, Monday to Friday with the opportunity to work from home during the week. This Learning Mentor role will start out on supply but will lead to a permanent contract if you’re the right fit.
The desired Learning Mentor will have;
1. Experience of working with either; children, young people or adults with SEND
2. A passion for education and helping people
3. A nurturing and engaging personality
