Kepak St. Merryn in Merthyr Tydfil has combined beef and lamb processing and packing facilities. We offer beef and lamb products ranging from retail ready cuts for butchers’ counters to branded packaged meat, all as part of our service; raised on open pastures, sourced from local farmers and hand-selected by our master butchers, we produce beef and lamb products with integrity and unmatched quality assurance.
Role Purpose:
We are seeking a diligent and experienced Night Hygiene Supervisor to oversee our Hygiene Department, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and maintaining impeccable standards of cleanliness. The successful candidate will lead a team in delivering hygienic environments that meet food safety regulations and uphold the highest quality standards.
Working pattern: 4 nights on / 3 nights off (Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday nights) 6pm - 6am
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise the night shift Hygiene Team, ensuring effective delivery of hygiene services across factory areas.
* Develop and implement cleaning processes to promote excellent hygiene, health, and safety practices.
* Drive continuous improvement of hygiene processes and services.
* Safely operate tools, equipment, and chemicals, maintaining them in good condition.
* Ensure all hygiene duties are carried out to the required standard and within deadlines.
* Provide performance management to the team, including feedback, training, and support for development.
* Train staff on SOPs and CICs related to cleaning tasks and equipment.
* Monitor and maintain cleanliness of machinery, tools, work surfaces, and production areas.
* Manage handling and storage of materials, including ordering chemicals and maintaining stock.
* Participate in compliance audits and inspections, ensuring internal hygiene standards are met.
* Support the Technical team in obtaining water samples and conducting microbiological investigations.
* Report hazards, accidents, or incidents promptly and participate in investigations.
* Provide cover in the absence of the Hygiene Manager.
* Maintain departmental time and attendance records.
Minimum Requirements:
* Proven experience in supervising hygiene teams in a manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
* Ability to lead and motivate a team, providing effective performance management.
* Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
* Knowledge of cleaning processes, equipment, and chemicals.
* Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
* Proficiency in record-keeping and documentation.
* Flexibility to work night shifts and provide cover as needed.
* Relevant qualifications or certifications in hygiene management or related field preferred.
