Job Description
About the role
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Finance Assistant will support the smooth and efficient running of the finance department.
What you’ll do…
1. Check all financial transactions related to revenue and income daily.
2. Make sure revenue records and all transactions are accurate, properly documented and recorded, as per company standards.
3. Spot any discrepancies, errors, or irregularities in financial data and figure out why they happened, and implementing corrective actions.
4. Ensure that revenue reported matches actual income received.
5. Review sales invoices to ensure they're complete, accurate, and follow billing policies.
6. Monitor accounts receivable aging reports to find overdue accounts and follow up with customers for payment.
7. Talk to customers about their payment status, outstanding balances, and payment terms.
8. Build good relationships with customers to help smooth payment processing and resolve issues quickly.
9. Make sure all monies received are posted correctly, recorded and receipted in accordance to company policy.
10. Chase up monies owed to the hotel and minimise the risk of bad debt.
11. Resolve sales ledger queries promptly.
12. Find ways to make accounts receivable processes more efficient.
13. Check commission claims from travel agents for accuracy and compliance with contractual agreements.
14. Validate and process commission requests, including reservation details, rates, and stay dates, using the hotel’s systems.
15. Liaise with travel agencies and agents to address inquiries, resolve disputes, and assist with commission matters.
16. Collaborate with other teams to gather relevant financial information.
17. Actively review standard operating procedures, to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
Qualifications
What we’re looking for…
18. Knowledge of Opera is preferable.
19. Good knowledge and experience of MS Office applications including Excel.
20. Good understanding of accounting principles.
21. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accuracy and precision in financial records.

23. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
24. Adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
