We are currently recruiting for an Estimator to join our client's team in London. This business has been a cornerstone of the community for a considerable amount of time, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere for employees to thrive.
As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the preparation of detailed cost estimates for a variety of projects across commercial, education, industrial, and leisure sectors. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with the bid team, conducting cost analysis, engaging with suppliers, and supporting junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with the bid team to develop competitive tender submissions
2. Prepare detailed cost estimates for new build and refurbishment projects
3. Conduct thorough cost analysis, ensuring accuracy and completeness of estimates
4. Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes and negotiate favorable terms
5. Identify and assess potential risks associated with projects, proposing effective mitigation strategies
6. Manage prequalification, quality, and pre-bid submissions
7. Maintain organized documentation of all estimating activities
8. Identify opportunities to add value throughout the project process
9. Support junior members of the estimating, surveying, and pre-construction team
Desirable Skills and Experience:
10. Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in construction management, quantity surveying, or related field preferred
11. In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry best practices
12. Proficiency in relevant estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
13. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and explain estimates to stakeholders
14. Proven track record of delivering work-winning competitive tenders
15. Experience pricing projects - both single and two-stage tenders and negotiated opportunities
