Senior Service Designer| 3 Months (Inside)| Hybrid (Glasgow/Edinburgh)
Harvey Nash’s client is recruiting a Senior Service Designer on a 3 month contract.
Main Responsibilities
1. Support the development and execution of services, strategies, and policies to meet business requirements and user needs.
2. Promote inclusive, collaborative, user-centered design practices and integrate them into service design and delivery.
3. Recommend appropriate service design tools and methods.
4. Collaborate with user researchers to understand and address user needs across various channels.
5. Work with Interaction Design, Content Design, and Digital Accessibility teams to develop comprehensive patterns and service features.
6. Advocate for users who require assisted digital and accessibility technologies to access services.
7. Facilitate co-design sessions with design teams, service users, and other stakeholders.
8. Prototype and test proposed design solutions using a variety of tools, including non-digital methods.
9. Identify and understand constraints, communicate them effectively, and work within them, challenging their validity when necessary while ensuring standards are met.
10. Make design decisions and clearly explain the reasoning behind them.
Key Skills
11. Experience in a senior service designer role, designing and delivering a wide range of service design activities including: support team members to understand the value of design, negotiating design briefs and service developments, leading service design activates, and delivering service outcomes based on user, staff and organisational needs.
12. Ability to choose and apply appropriate user-centred design methods (from data gathering, idea & concept generation, co-creation and prototyping) for different design life cycle phases and situations.
13. Ability to communicate design approaches and insights effectively in such a way as to stimulate conversation and collaboration.
14. Knowledge of other user centred design practices and experience of collaborating with them for service delivery.
15. Promote the value of iterative design based on user feedback.
16. Enable the design process through the visual communication of ideas.
This role falls inside of IR35 and is hybrid working with the expectation to be in the Glasgow or Edinburgh office 2 days a week. Please note that for this role you must have or be happy to get a Basic Disclosure Scotland.
