Dates: For course dates between end of June and end of August 2025
Working pattern: Saturday to Saturday, up to 65 hours per week on a shift pattern with overnight duties. 1 day off per week.
Reports to: Course Director
As a member of the senior management team on-site, you will manage the staff and students ensuring the smooth delivery of the courses. You will also act as the primary decision-maker in the Course Director's absence.
Main duties Leadership - Managing the performance of junior management staff, and supporting them to maintain positive relationships with their teams.
Decision making - Deputising for the Course Director in their absence, including acting as the primary decision-maker on site.
Atmosphere - Contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.
Timetable - Oversee staff responsible for planning and execution of excursions, meals and activities, in order to deliver an excellent programme.
Budget management - Supporting the Course Director to keep delivery costs within budget to best add value to student experience, and keep accurate records of spending.
Pastoral care - Liaising with the Course Director and the Welfare and Safeguarding Officer to ensure safeguarding, behaviour, and discipline are managed effectively.
Residential duties - Up to 10 hrs per week, as part of the residential team including morning registrations, meal time supervision, curfew checks and overnight phone duty.
Safeguarding - Appropriately responding to any safeguarding concerns that may arise.

You're able to make decisions with excellent judgement and conviction, remaining composed in high-pressure situations while prioritising student safety and wellbeing.
You can manage relationships with staff, students, and external stakeholders effectively, promoting positive and respectful interactions.
You're comfortable managing the operational and pastoral demands of a residential course, confidently addressing challenges and maintaining high standards of care.
Essential Experience in a leadership or management role ideally in education including the management of a team of staff and students.
Clear knowledge and understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and emergency procedures.
Proven ability to problem solve and provide thoughtful solutions that consider staff wellbeing and student experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills and experience managing and developing staff.
Proven ability to use IT effectively including the use of computers, smartphones and the internet for tasks such as email communication, group chats, managing files, and troubleshooting basic technical issues.
Right to work in the UK (we cannot sponsor work visas for this role)
Desirable Knowledge of Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets).
Experience working in a teaching or management capacity in a summer school.
Familiarity with managing inexperienced team members, particularly in residential environments like summer schools.
