Hold a Class 2 A-F Registered Building Inspector license with substantial experience in both commercial and domestic projects, especially in areas like dangerous structures and demolitions. Have a degree or related discipline background with additional fire engineering/safety qualifications, plus appropriate management training. Demonstrate expertise in building legislation and extensive experience across a wide range of Building Control projects. Show competence in achieving deadlines, decision-making, time management, and project management under the LABC Partnership scheme. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the capacity to work calmly under pressure while motivating yourself and others within a team. Display ability to operate both independently and collaboratively, with proficiency in IT and initiative-driven problem-solving skills. What the Job Involves Perform authorized duties as a Class 2 Registered Building Inspector, handling plan reviews and site inspections under the Principal Building Control Surveyor's guidance. Responsible for assessing applications and construction activities, making technical decisions promptly, and ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and Safety requirements. Manage a spectrum of caseloads and support Building Control Surveyors and assistants in the team. Calculate, oversee, and ensure correct fees and payments for applications collaboratively with clients and the Technical Support Team. Issue decisions within legal timelines and provide informative support to the Department’s customers. Maintain accurate records, compile necessary reports, and engage in enforcement actions per guidelines from the Principal Building Control Surveyor. Proactively participate in business development and customer relationship management, promoting the Council’s Building Control Service to expand market share and income. Utilize staff resources effectively for inspections and contribute to staff education, training, and experience gains. Report safety risks to higher management and undertake other duties compatible with the role as determined by the Council or Director of Place. Administer Building Regulations for Bracknell and other boroughs, ensuring constructions meet legal standards and positively impact community health, safety, and convenience.
