Purpose of role
Responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, repair and fault finding on the DEMU Class 22x fleets
What are my key responsibilities?
Job Profile – Safety Critical / Safety Related:
• To carry out all types of maintenance examination work, repair and fault finding on DEMU Class 22x vehicles to ensure that we provide our customer with a reliable, safe and defect free train.
• To take responsibility for the safe, efficient work of self and others under their charge.
• Undertake detailed fault finding and investigation on specific technical issues
Job Profile - Other:
• Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all paperwork prior to Supervisor validation.
• Responsible, to the Supervisor and the Planning Supervisor, for the accurate identification of outstanding work at the end of the shift.
• Responsible for the coaching of staff in good working practices and quality standards. Also responsible for supporting the Shift Supervisor in the identification of Training needs.
• Supporting the Supervisor in the achievement of all activities in line with Quality, Waste Reduction, Delivery and H&S targets.
• Undertake technical maintenance to the required standards.
• Coaching staff in good working practices and quality standards
• Ensuring that all problems with processes, tooling and documentation are identified within the team and reported to the Shift Supervisor.
• Highlighting potential Health and Safety concerns
• Constantly searching for ways to improve processes.
• Operation of powered plant, lifting and mechanical handling equipment.
• Produce comprehensive reports on specific fault finding investigations.
• Identify potential improvements and feedback to Engineering.
• Compliance with all laid down H&S legislation and depot procedures to ensure a safe accident free environment.
• Responsible for keeping the work area clean and tidy and to the highest standards at all times.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
• Qualified to HNC level in an Electrical or Electronic Engineering related discipline or Technician level demonstrable & relevant on the job experience
• Comprehensive knowledge of Electrical & Mechanical Principles
• Ability to undertake detailed fault finding and analysis
• Work autonomously as well in a team
• Detailed report writing skills
Desirable
• Detailed understanding of Class 22x vehicles.
• Personal Track Safety Certificate (PTS)
• Computer Literate.
