Purpose of the role:
Deliver high quality responsibly sourced and affordably priced product, tailored for Pregnant Women and Mothers to be for their journey before during and after.
Main Duties and Key responsibilities:
* Managing all inhouse fit meetings
* Preparing and measuring garments ready for fitting
* Understanding of grading rules
* Managing all continuity shipment and seasonal shipment approvals
* Analysing technical issues accurately, checking for fit discrepancies and sending clear, concise, and accurate comments to suppliers; processing samples in a timely and in line with KPIs.
* Liaising with Design, Buying & suppliers to offer technical guidance on new product development with the aim of reducing costs & improving quality
* Ensuring sustainable compliance with fibre composition labelling regulations, assessing risk, managing relevant testing; recording & resolving non-compliance effectively and efficiently. Approval of care labels for final garments
* Contributing to initiatives to reduce customer returns: analysing data & implementing solutions, investigating fit issues at style level when rate of returns is over target range
* Always promoting quality, whilst maintaining a strong commercial attitude
* Delivering continuous improvement and creative solutions
* Recommending commercial decisions with confidence
**Hybrid - 3 days in the central London office / 2 days from home**
Salary range: 45k - 50k
Requirements
1. Experience in Garment Technology:
+ 5+ years of experience as a garment technologist, ideally in maternity wear or women’s apparel.
+ Strong background in technical fit, pattern making, grading, and garment construction.
2. Knowledge of Maternity Garments:
+ Understanding of maternity wear fit, construction, and the unique requirements of stretch, comfort, and adaptability.
+ Familiarity with fabric types, especially those suitable for maternity clothing, such as stretchy fabrics and knits.
3. Technical Skills:
+ Proficiency in pattern-making software (e.g., Gerber, Lectra, or similar) and experience with Adobe Illustrator for tech pack creation.
+ Advanced knowledge of fabric testing, garment testing, and quality control processes.
4. Fit and Quality Expertise:
+ Strong ability to conduct fit sessions and provide actionable feedback to achieve an ideal fit.
+ Knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing techniques to ensure quality, durability, and comfort for maternity wear.
5. Supplier & Production Liaison Experience:
+ Proven experience working closely with suppliers and factories, both locally and internationally, to manage product quality and specifications.
+ Ability to communicate clearly with production partners on technical specifications, quality standards, and fit requirements.
6. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
+ Able to troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues, making adjustments to improve quality and comfort.
+ Proficiency in measuring and assessing garment samples against size specifications, with strong attention to detail.
7. Project Management & Organisational Skills:
+ Able to handle multiple styles and products simultaneously, managing timelines and deadlines effectively.
+ Excellent organisational and time management skills to oversee the technical development from prototype through to production.
8. Communication Skills:
+ Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with design, product development, and production teams.
+ Ability to clearly communicate technical specifications and adjustments to cross-functional teams and suppliers.
9. Knowledge of Compliance Standards:
+ Familiarity with maternity wear safety, ethical production, and garment compliance standards, particularly in the UK/EU markets.
+ Understanding of sustainable and ethical sourcing, with knowledge of testing requirements for safety and compliance.
10. Education:
+ Degree or diploma in Fashion Technology, Garment Construction, Textiles, or a related field.
* Preferred Qualifications:
o Previous Maternity Wear Experience: Experience with brands focused on maternity or post-partum apparel.
o Sustainability Knowledge: Knowledge of sustainable fabrics, eco-friendly practices, and ethical manufacturing processes.
o Global Production Insight: Experience working with global production cycles and seasonal calendars.
