Role Overview:
As an Engineering Manager, you will oversee the engineering design of a variety of complex nuclear projects, including power plant design, decommissioning, new installations, and refurbishments. You will be responsible for managing design teams, ensuring the effective integration of various engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil, and nuclear) to deliver projects to the highest standards. The role requires a strong engineering design background and expertise in leading multidisciplinary design teams, with particular focus on the nuclear or defence sectors. The role requires on-site presence in Cumbria at least 3 days a week to ensure seamless collaboration with the team and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the engineering design process for complex nuclear projects, ensuring the delivery of innovative and safe designs that meet client and regulatory requirements.
* Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, including mechanical, electrical, civil, and nuclear engineers, to integrate their expertise into cohesive and effective project designs.
* Oversee the design of nuclear power plants, decommissioning projects, and new installations, ensuring all engineering designs comply with stringent industry standards and regulations.
* Ensure that all designs adhere to safety, quality, and regulatory standards, including nuclear-specific safety and compliance requirements.
* Provide strategic leadership in design innovation, driving continuous improvement in design processes and project execution.
* Act as the primary point of contact for design-related issues, collaborating with stakeholders to resolve any technical challenges.
* Skills and Experience Required:
o Proven experience in engineering design management within the nuclear or defence industries, with a strong focus on managing multidisciplinary design teams.
o Extensive experience in the design and delivery of nuclear-related projects, including power plant design, decommissioning, refurbishment, and new installations.
o Strong technical expertise in nuclear engineering design, with a solid understanding of regulatory and safety standards specific to the nuclear sector.
o Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to manage and guide design teams to successful project outcomes.
o Proven track record of delivering complex engineering designs in a highly regulated, safety-critical environment.
o Must be eligible for security clearance, having lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 consecutive years and holding a valid British passport.
o Must be willing to commit to attending the Cumbria site a minimum of 3 days per week to lead and collaborate with teams on-site.
