Outwood Academy City Fields is an 11-16 academy based in the friendly cathedral city of Wakefield. The Academy was rated Good by Ofsted in March 2022. We joined the Outwood Family of Schools in 2018.

We are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to join our Science Department. This is a fantastic job opportunity for a teacher who really wants to make a difference to the lives of young people. Our single goal is ‘Students First’ and you will be joining a strong team of professionals working to this sole aim.
Our Science Department consists of eight teachers and a one-to-one tutor. The Department is a combination of experienced staff and more recent entrants to the profession, and is given strategic direction by supportive and determined leaders. We have the benefit of support from the Trust's team of expert Science Directors who provide support, materials, advice, coaching and who model and team-teach in lessons alongside us to develop our expertise. The Department has created a rich and engaging curriculum which has deep roots in teaching for understanding. Our curriculum is differentiated by depth, ensuring all students build firm foundations, develop confidence and retain their learning.
We are seeking candidates with secure knowledge of the secondary Science curriculum, with the ability to deliver knowledge and skills to small groups and on a one to one basis. With good knowledge One to One tutors will rapidly accelerate students' understanding that will support them in more regular lessons. Whilst this role is advertised as typically part-time, there is an element of flexibility in assigning hours, to best meet the needs of the academy curriculum, this may vary through the course of the academic year, but will be discussed as part of the application process.
We welcome applications from people who:
• hold qualified teacher status, or are a qualified HE or FE teacher; or
• are able to demonstrate a track record of effective teaching; or
• are able to demonstrate that you can work with individual pupils to progress their learning; or
• have subject specific knowledge.
You will be well supported by an experienced team of teachers and Directors as you work to raise attainment levels and offer an engaging curriculum experience that focuses on teaching for understanding.
The Academy benefits from being part of the Outwood Family of Schools, which affords opportunities for staff to work and progress across several schools if desired. All staff are guaranteed a minimum of two hours CPD per week and a further comprehensive programme of professional development is provided through our own network of teaching schools.
